Product Design Leader - Instagram Stories

The Instagram design team is looking for a leader to evolve our current Stories ecosystem and platform. This is a really exciting opportunity to lead Stories through its next chapter! This leader will have direct oversight of the creation, viewing experience, feedback, integrity, and new platforms experiences. They’ll also be responsible for helping shape the cross-family Stories strategy. This is a unique Leadership opportunity to help solve one of the most important problems we can solve in tech – how do we help people connect with friends and the things they care about around the world while staying safe and maintaining a spirit of kindness. Instagram has a strong design culture and you’ll have the opportunity to learn a lot about how to build well-crafted products at scale, at the same time we’ll also be looking to you to help influence and shape the Instagram design culture for future.

Responsibilities

  • Building and managing a growing team of talented designers.
  • Help establish shared vision across the company by building consensus on priorities leading to product design and execution.
  • Help lead the vision and strategic planning for the product roadmap, both short term and long-term.
  • Offer organizational design thinking to best structure the team and equip them for success in their goals.
  • Drive product design with a team of world-class engineers, Product Managers, analysts and user researchers.
  • Build and execute on a vision for the products in both the public figures or business, monetization space.
  • Establishing a strong, collaborative design practice.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in Product Design.
  • 6+ years of management experience with direct reports under your guidance and leadership.
  • 6+ years of experience working collaboratively with engineering, design and user research teams.
  • Senior people management, team development, and recruiting experience.
  • Experience growing strategic design practice within design teams.
  • Interaction experience in software design.
  • Organizational and analytical experience.
  • Experience executing with hands-on design.
