Technical Program Manager, Instagram SMB

Instagram is looking for a Technical Program Manager to help scale the SMB program and drive alignment across the organization. Spanning from Insights, which help businesses increase the ROI of their investments on Instagram, to Foundations, which help businesses evolve and mature, the SMB team is ensuring that small to medium sized businesses have access to the right tools to support their livelihoods and ambitions. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, adept at working cross-functionally, managing multiple stakeholders, staying up to date on the work of many partner teams, and able to help launch products globally at scale. This is a constantly evolving space, and the TPM is expected to be flexible and pivot based on the problems we are trying to solve. This person will be highly organized, data driven, productive, and able to thrive in high-pressure, time-sensitive scenarios.


  • Drive review efforts for embedded teams and consult for product teams while holding a high quality bar for partners
  • Articulate the technology, requirements, goals and milestones for your team each half
  • Develop and manage cross-functional programs covering a range of areas
  • Facilitate relationships across teams at Instagram and Facebook to manage dependencies and optimize resources
  • Communicate program updates and proactively identify risks early to relevant partner teams and leadership
  • Drive accountability and ownership in a fast-paced environment through project planning and strong interpersonal skills

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of software engineering, systems engineering, hardware engineering, or technical product/program management experience
  • Experience delivering tech programs or products from inception to delivery
  • Knowledge of user needs, gathering requirements, and defining scope
  • Experience operating autonomously across multiple teams, demonstrated critical thinking, and thought leadership
  • Communication experience and experience working with technical management teams to develop systems, solutions, and products
  • Organizational, coordination and multi-tasking experience
  • Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems
  • Experience establishing work relationships across multi-disciplinary teams and multiple partners in different time zones

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in social media, software, internet or digital media industries
  • Domain expertise in media, ads, metrics, content quality, integrity
