Art Director - Instagram

San Francisco, CA

The Instagram AR Design Team is a multidisciplinary team of 3D artists, illustrators, animators, designers, technical artists, and creative coders dedicated to creating innovative, compelling experiences for today and tomorrow.
This person will be responsible for contributing to the overall design process through concept, design development, and delivery of visually compelling AR experiences that will resonate with an external global audience. This person is an expert in their craft and is highly skilled in working with a team of visual artists and designers to deliver great work. They should have the ability to adapt to various creative styles and mediums.

Responsibilities

  • Create sketches, storyboards, prototypes, and/or design specs necessary to guide development of product experiences
  • Work in collaboration with product teams to absorb knowledge, define opportunities, and develop concepts and treatments to bring ideas to life
  • Work closely with the Creative Director and Content Strategist to implement a cohesive visual style
  • Deliver compelling visuals in various styles and mediums such as illustration, photography, video, animation or other media
  • Deliver content that’s delightful, beautiful, and clear and with a high level of finish and polish
  • Seek out creative opportunities to improve on existing style and approach

Minimum Qualifications

  • 6+ years experience as Art Director at a creative agency or an in-house team
  • A link to an online portfolio showcasing relevant work
  • Experience coordinating, directing, and guiding the work of other designers
  • Demonstrated presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the experience to communicate concepts
  • Demonstrated experience to take design feedback
  • Demonstrated experience to create work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working in AR/VR/XR with an understanding of technology requirements and work flows
  • Demonstrated understanding of product design, including creating flows, thinking through experiences, and planning user research with research partners
  • Demonstrated knowledge of design principles related to branding, marketing, and publishing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in AR/VR/XR experiences
  • Experience designing youth focused brands or products
