The Instagram Product Performance team works to ensure an exceptional experience for all 1.5 Billion Instagram users regardless of location, network or device. We work for all users from the Influencer on a top of the line phone to users in emerging markets who face barriers due to device or network constraints. The team works across the full array of Instagram’s surfaces (Feed, Stories, Reels, Live, Camera, etc.) to understand how Performance (crashes, start-up time, media loading latency, video quality) affects the user experience. We are looking for a Data Scientist who is interested in the linkages between the technical side of application, network, and media performance and the human side of how our users engage with Instagram. This person will analyze how changes to performance affects user behavior and develop strategies to maximize the impact of performance changes to our user’s and to Instagram’s overall strategies.
