With over 1 Billion monthly active users and growing, the Instagram app plays a critical part in forming meaningful communities where people can connect with each other and share what matters most to them. The Data Science Manager for Discovery will lead a team of dedicated data scientists who are responsible for our products that help fulfill the mission of bringing people closer to their interests, hobbies and passions on the platform. Specifically, the Discovery product area is responsible for the Search and Explore Tab, which is used by half of IG daily active users, integrity and user safety for these parts of the app, and Creator Ranking which ensures Creators on Instagram can best reach an audience that may not be familiar with them yet. Key objectives: 1) Drive discovery/relevance strategy across unconnected surfaces in IG including Explore and Search; 2) Manage a team of high performing data scientists and help them execute along the most important priorities for their product areas; and 3) Work cross functionally with product managers, engineers, and other partners. Why join? Discovery is the lifeblood of any social network. You will be working at the core of our product and influence decisions that will impact well over a billion users on a given day. You will be working with world class ranking engineers and data scientists in a highly collaborative environment.
