In this role, you will help to bring Facebook Inc.‘s Commerce strategy to life on Instagram by driving analytical work critical to the area’s short- and long-term success. The Instagram Shopping Relevance team is working to bring world-class personalization to the IG Shop Tab, which just launched to more than 700 million users around the world. Our north star: the Shop Tab consistently delivers fresh, relevant, and inspirational content (products, brands, media) from a diverse set of brands, creators, and friends that is highly tuned to shoppers’ personal style, taste, and real-time context. We get there by leveraging deep catalog data and rich media from brands, creators, and friends paired with robust shopping and non-shopping signals to deliver a highly personalized experience. We are looking for an analytics leader with ML expertise who is passionate about and experienced in untangling ambiguous 0→1 ranking problems. You have strong technical chops, and will get your hands dirty in analysis in addition to managing and mentoring a small team. You are a fantastic communicator who will work with cross-functional partners and other data scientists on both long and short-term analyses, communicating findings and recommendations succinctly and effectively to leadership. You’ll get scrappy to identify high-priority relevance problems before they are even clearly measurable and drive personalization understanding with limited experimental data; you’ll then translate current product problems into hypotheses and analyses/experiments to validate them. You are autonomous and able to independently identify the most important questions to answer and prioritize work effectively. Finally, you’re looking for a career-defining opportunity and are excited to stretch yourself outside of your comfort zone.
