Instagram's mission is to inspire creativity that brings people together. Creators are at the heart of this mission: we succeed if Instagram is a creator's first choice for building their home and sharing their creativity. We’re recruiting for a Data Science leader for the Creator organization to help accelerate this mission. This leader would have holistic responsibility for how public sharing occurs on Instagram. They would lead data science teams responsible for Instagram’s creation experiences across its permanent surfaces (i.e. Reels and Feed), as well as teams responsible for creator monetization, and tools Instagram builds to allow creators to learn how to grow such as Insights. Work in this area requires substantial creativity coupled with ability to think carefully through multi-party ecosystems. We want to build an ecosystem that allows creators to effectively share their creativity, while simultaneously ensuring our users see content from the people (creators or not) that they care about. This requires careful balancing of equities. This Director of Data Science is directly responsible for managing the data science team to ensure proper goaling, experimentation, and forecasting and to develop insights that identify the biggest opportunities for the Instagram community and drive overall product strategy. Additionally, this leader is responsible for leadership development within Creators to ensure the org has capacity to further scale. You will enjoy working with one of the richest data sets in the world, cutting edge technology, and the ability to see your insights turned into real products on a regular basis. The perfect candidate will have strong product intuition, particularly for the creator experience, experience building and managing analytics teams, will have worked with large data stores, and have experience building software. You are scrappy, focused on results, a self-starter, and have demonstrated success in using analytics to drive the understanding, progression, and user engagement of a product. In addition, you have exceptional exec communication skills at conveying complex ideas simply and effectively.
